Mr. Darling often bragged to Wendy that her mother not only loved him but respected him. He was one of those clever individuals who understand stocks and shares. Of course, no one truly knows, but he seemed to know, and he frequently mentioned that stocks were up and shares were down in a way that would make any woman respect him.
